The best advice I’ve ever heard about starting something new is simple: “Just start!”
When I began exploring connecting rescued food to local nonprofits, I had no idea where that new adventure would lead. It was 2020, supply chains were severely disrupted and a friend asked if I wanted to help drive some food around. I had a van and—like everyone else—entirely too much free time on my hands, so I said yes. It seemed like a small but real way to do some good, and a chance to stop feeling stuck and frustrated.
Five years later, I’m still doing it. And I love it more than ever! In this case, my saying yes was one of my better decisions! Every little win has pushed me forward, and each “failure” has helped me learn and grow. I’ve met kind, caring people from all walks of life, and their stories have impacted me in ways I never expected.
This moment is outgrowing me. I’ve learned a lot—mostly just how little I really know. The are stronger, and the opportunities are bigger.
And that’s why I’m starting this blog.
My hope is that these posts—and Gratibility’s social media posts—can do a few things: They can open a dialogue. They can educate. They can make us smile. They can tell our story. They can help raise awareness of the amazing work being done by individuals and groups in our community. And they can share ways we can get involved and make a real impact.
Thanks for being here. I’m excited to see where this new chapter takes us!
